No Conflict between Addis Ababa Talks and National Dialogue: Official - Rawan For Media Artistic and Production
Sudanese
government spokesman and Minister of Information, Dr. Ahmed Bilal
Osman, said this round of talks will be limited to the ceasefire
agreement in the Two Areas.
Presidential
Aide and head of the government delegation, Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamid, said
the talks will be based on what is stipulated in the Comprehensive
Peace Agreement, affirming the government’s seriousness in striking a
deal to end war and achieve stability.
Justice
Party Political Secretary, Bushara Jumaa Aror, emphasised the
importance in holding the General Assembly of the National Dialogue.
For
his part, Member of the National Dialogue Coordination Committee, Kamal
Omer commented on the recent statement of Paris Call, describing it as
reflecting the deep disputes and the absence of clear vision.
He
added, in the media forum of the National Dialogue held yesterday, that
the national dialogue is opening its doors before all forces being
political, armed groups or civil society organizations to achieve peace
and stability.
He
pointed out to the contacts of the PCP with the armed groups to join
the national dialogue besides participating in Addis Ababa talks within
the endevours of the National Dialogue Coordination Committee.
Meanwhile,
the talks between the government delegation, led by Assistant to the
President Eng. Mohamed Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamid, and the armed movements on
the Two Regions and Darfur, start today in the Ethiopian Capital of
Addis Ababa. Eng. Mohamed reiterated his full commitment in ending these
files for the stability of the country.
He
denied any contradictions between the Addis Ababa talks and national
dialogue, noting the talks are concerned with security measures for
ending the war.
He
said the country is ready for new developments in the political arena,
through going ahead with the national dialogue in search of an accord.
He
noted the government has received an invitation from the African Union
and President of the High Implementation Panel, Thabo Mbeki, to hold
talks on the Two Regions and Darfur.
He
said the discussions will review the ceasefire as well as reaching a
peace that would enable final arrangements with the armed movements,
underlining this is the stance of the government.
He further noted the talks on Darfur have lasted for more than 15 years and those on the Two Regions since 2011.
He
went on to say that in the previous talks some progress was achieved
and now the talks will intend to reach a permanent ceasefire and not
just a cessation of hostilities.
The
Assistant of the President denied there are other agendas to the talks,
other than the Two Regions and Darfur. He noted the basic two issues of
agreeing security arrangements in the Two Regions and Darfur, in two
separate forums
He
renewed the government’s commitment to providing sufficient guarantees
to the armed movements in joining the national dialogue.
He
said the decisions of the President of the Republic and the two
Republican Decrees 39 and 40, were clear with regard to a general
amnesty for those willing to partake in the national dialogue.
He
underlined that large numbers of armed movements have now joined the
dialogue, and that the door is still open for any movement.
Regarding
continuation of the talks in the internal and external forums, he said
the two forums are separate. He said the preparation conference is
devoted to setting the appropriate climate for the armed movements to
join the dialogue
In
another development, Eng Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamid, Assistant to the
President of the Republic, directed the need in maintaining peace and
stability in the State of South Darfur, as well healing any social rifts
that may have surfaced.
