Addressing UNCTAD Conference, President Al-Bashir Calls for Lifting Sanctions Imposed on Sudan - Rawan For Media Artistic and Production

President
of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, Monday evening addressed
at the Friendship Hall the opening sitting of the 17 session of the
United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

In
his address, President Al-Bashir said that the clear contrast in
today's world between the rich and poor countries has become man factor
in reduction of the UN capacities in responding to the new variables, in
realizing objectives of sustainable development.

President
Al-Bashir has called for lifting the unfair unilateral sanctions
imposed on Sudan since the year 1997 that has hampered free trade and
investment of Sudan as well as the movement of the natural resources for
the purpose of development and funding of production inputs and
capacity building and also reduced the efforts of attracting foreign
investment and entering in smart partnership with industrial countries.

He
said that these sanctions constitute a barrier to deal with
international institutions and deprived Sudan of the benefit of debts
settlement initiatives, and moreover led to imposing restrictions on the
Sudanese exports and imports.

President
Al-Bashir said that the implications of South Sudan separation in the
year 2011 have formed a great burden on Sudan as Sudan alone has
shouldered all the financial and economic obligations resulting from the
peace process without receiving any help from the international
community.

He
informed the UNCTAD Conference on the government efforts for realizing
peace and political and economic stability all over the country by
holding the National Dialogue Conference which is open for all the
Sudanese political parties, indicating that this conference aims for
allowing freedoms to expand the participation in rule.

President
Al-Bashir has affirmed Sudan conviction on the important role of the UN
in strengthening the bonds of international cooperation.

He
called on the advanced countries to enhance the national efforts of the
developing and poor countries to create a secure, stable and prosperous
future for the coming generations.

President
Al-Bashir said that the UNCTAD Conference convenes under critical
international conditions highly influencing challenges for medium and
low income countries, especially the poor African countries which are
getting poorer every day for reasons beyond their capacity and control.
