Khartoum and Juba Agree to Support Peace in Both Countries - Rawan For Media Artistic and Production

The
Foreign Ministers of Sudan and South Sudan ended their two day talks
yesterday in Khartoum, amid a feeling of optimism that they can pave the
road to peace and stability in both countries.

The
two ministers held a press conference following the talks, announcing
they agreed on ideas to realise peace throughout the region.

The Foreign Minister of Sudan Ibrahim Ghandour told reporters that “We
discussed many issues because we touched upon the common agreement in
Moscow and this is the second round of talk since that time.
We
paved the road for the joint security committee to review security
challenges. The minister pointed out that the willingness of the two
presidents contributed to settle the disputes on rebel movements in both
states.

“The
debt topic has been reviewed earlier, but unfortunately the committee
responsible for following the issue has stopped operation; we hope it
will resume work soon” added Ghandour.

He also affirmed that the government of the South is committed to cooperating in solving the problem of armed movements.

“Sudan
has applied the four freedom agreements to facilitate the movement of
people and goods.” Ghandour stated that Sudanese communities in South
Sudan receive welfare from both the president and the foreign minister
and their problems were solved, confirming that what has happened are
personal behaviours and not a targeted move.

“Sudan
is ready to normalise unique relations and to support peace in South
Sudan besides facilitating the mission of Southern communities in Sudan,
namely students.” This issue was discussed with the Ministers of
Education and Higher Education, concluded Ghandour.

On
his part, the Minister of South Sudan’s Foreign Affairs Barnaba
Benjamin announced his countries’ support to the national dialogue,
saying the peace of Sudan means peace in the South. He appreciated the
role played by President of Sudan Al Bashir to prevail peace in the
country.
He
informed that “a delegation headed by Taban Deng, represented Riek
Machar has arrived in Juba to peace begin peace negotiation.” He
insisted that a new chapter of relations is starting now, saying his
government has authorized a law to award any citizens Sudanese
nationality following five years of residence.

I
reviewed the issue of South Sudan’s students “they are the generation
of the future they can play crucial role in normalising relations.’
Benjamin urged for relations free of supporting armed groups in each
state.
