At
the opening of the Scientific Conference on 29th evening the President
of the Sudanese Society of Gastroenterology Dr. Suliman Hussein welcomed
the delegates including the foreign speakers from UK, Sweden, India,
KSA and other countries.

He then requested the house to observe two minutes silence to pay
homage to the first President of SSG Dr. Zakieddin Ahmed who passed away
recently.
He
thanked the Sudanese expatriate doctors from UK for regularly coming to
Sudan and training the local Gastroenterologists. Prof. Ibrahim Mustafa
distinguished Gastroenterologist from Egypt said that Sudan is very
close to his heart and that he has been coming to Sudan for the last 20
years. Prof. Mamoun Homeida Minister of Health of Khartoum State spoke
highly of SSG for attaching training and workshops with the scientific
conference.

He differed from Dr.Suliman Hussein about Brain Drain and looked at it
positively and named it Brain Circulation. He said qualified and skilled
Sudanese doctors are placed all over the world and contribute to Sudan
in many ways. He added that 1000 doctors graduate every year in Sudan
and 500 doctors specialize from the Sudan Medicine Specialization Board.

The
Federal Minister of Health H.E. Bahar Idriss Abu Garda asked the
foreign delegates to visit the peaceful city of Khartoum and return
safely to their countries and talk about Sudan. This would go a long way
to portray the true friendly picture of Sudan.
