First Meeting of African Specialised Technical Committee on Gender Equality and Women Empowerment Begins - Rawan For Media Artistic and Production



The
First Meeting of the African Union Specialised Technical Committee on
Gender Equality and Women Empowerment has begun at the Friendship Hall
Saturday, in the presence of the Assistant to the President of the
Republic Dr. Jalal Yousif Al-Degair, the Minister of Welfare and Social
Security Mashair Al-Dawalab, amongst a number of ambassadors and
representatives of civil society organisations.

The
meeting, which is attended by delegations from 27 African countries and
a number of African Women Affairs Ministers, will elect members to the
Experts Bureau. They will approve the committee's work plan for the
coming period, principles and procedure of the technical committee and
projects on the African Women Contract for 2015.

The meeting will also discuss the issue of African women empowerment economically.
Sittings of the meeting will last to next Sunday.
