Council of Ministers Approves Project of General Budget for Year 2016 - Rawan For Media Artistic and Production



The
Council of Ministers, chaired by the President of the Republic, Field
Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, Tuesday approved the general budget project for
the year 2016, which was presented at the meeting by the Minister of
Finance and Economic Planning, Badr-Eddin Mahmoud.

In
a press statement, the Spokesman of the Council of Ministers, Dr. Omer
Mohamed Salih, said that the new general budget is based on a number of
goals which include realizing a growth rate of 6.4%, reducing the
inflation rate to 13%, reducing the unemployment rate to less than 18%,
achieving a surplus in the balance of payment for the first time in the
past years and decreasing the rate of unemployment.

He
said that the outstanding policies of the general budget for the year
2016 include solving the shortcomings in the tax structures and
increasing them horizontally, rationalizing the use luxury goods,
completing the project of electronic revenues' collection, enhancing the
oil and mining industries, benefiting from the gas accompanying to oil
and transferring it into gasoline, imposing mandate of the Ministry of
Finance on public money, encouraging the local production of sugar,
medicines and wheat, rehabilitation of the railways and the electricity
sector, enhancing education quality and expanding the social support
projects.

He
said that the objectives of the new general budget include also
reducing the deficit in the trade balance, increasing the sorghum
production to 7.5 million tons, increasing the wheat production to 1.4
million tons, increasing the animal resources' revenues to 1.1 billion
dollars, increasing the thermal generation of electricity power to 75o
megawatts, establishing 500 health units, increasing number of the
families receiving social support from 500,000 to 600,000 families and
increasing the pensions.
