Gezira Scheme Provides Water for Winter Crops - Rawan For Media Artistic and Production
The Governor of Gezira Scheme Osman Semsaah has announced their
commitment to providing the required amount of water to cultivate crops
for the upcoming winter season. He has been visiting irrigation
positions and wheat and legume harvests.
Semsaah
said the administration has provided funding to farmers this season,
calling for the need for good management by farmers in respect of
irrigation operations.
Gezira farmers planted about 325,000 acres of wheat this season and 50,000 acres of seeds.
For
his part, Head of Turabi Section Khairallah Daraj stated the cultivated
wheat area in the section was more than 22,000 acres.
He
explained that the section focused on the nurturing and resettlement of
seeds this season. Daraj assured farmers there would be a regular
supply, but calling on them to control water from inside the canals.
