 MPs Note Rise of Begging Phenomenon - Rawan For Media Artistic and Production



A
Number of MPs have criticised a statement from the Social Welfare
Ministry calling on the Ministry to review its plan to reduce the
poverty rate in Sudan.

The MPs argued there is a considerable rise in street side begging.

For
her part, Minister of Welfare and Social Security Mashair Al-Dawalab
said the main features of her Ministry’s plan for 2016 are reducing the
poverty rate through the official and private sector.
This will target 500,000 families in the framework of a national social initiative she disclosed.

She
added, while addressing parliament yesterday, the implementation of
integrated socio-political policies will lead to better social welfare
and increased rights.

Al-Dawalab
focused on the most important projects in the upcoming stage, which
include the development of a social partnership programme and the
establishment of a social safety mechanism to reduce poverty.
