The
Minister stressed the continued importance of using integrated
technical packages of improved seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and
agricultural machines to increase output and productivity. He also noted
the importance of integrated programmes for water harvest and
preservative agriculture, referring to the implementation of 2315
demonstrative fields in an area of 22,000 acres, in addition to the
expansion of farmer’s space to 125, 0000 acres, compared to 90,000 acres
in the previous season. He was reviewing his Ministry's plan for next
year before Parliament on Monday.
He
revealed farmers will receive a space of 4.9 million acres instead of
3.3 million like the past season. He encouraged wheat and cotton
cultivation to create self-sufficiency and the expansion of food grain
production in irrigated areas to avoid climate change and rainfall
fluctuation.
The Minister pointed to the increase in agricultural production
oriented bank financing and the provision of foreign exchange for
imports of the agricultural season's inputs.

natural resources through forest vegetation restoration, the development
of the Gum Arabic belt and wildlife protection areas, combatting
desertification, expanding horticultural crop production, the usage of
agricultural statistics and indigenisation of the seeds industry.
