Important archaeological discoveries at Al-Khandaq unearthed - Rawan For Media Artistic and Production
A Specialized Mission affiliated to Department of Archaeology of
Faculty of Arts in Khartoum University, has explored important
archaeological discoveries of mass grave dated back to pre-Christian era
and a castle at Al-Khandaq area, Al-Golid Locality, Northern State.
The Mission will continue exploration at the area to determine the archaeological sites surveyed by the Mission.
Head
of the Mission, Professor, Intisar Saghiroun Al-Zain told Sudan News
Agency(SUNA), that the discoveries affirms that Khandaq, before three
centuries was a commercial city and a river port that received
commodities coming from Egypt, Turkey, the Levant and Europe after that
the commodities were distributed to different areas of Sudan via
caravans.
