FVP Reiterates Continuation of Accomplishing Peace and Development, Qatar Reveals Funding New Projects in Darfur - Rawan For Media Artistic and Production



The
First Vice President, Lt. Gen. Bakri Hassan Saleh has called on Darfuri
people to prepare for the referendum and to have their say on the
status of Darfur.

He urged citizens to reflect the true image of the situation in response to allegations of mass rape in Tabit Village.

Saleh,
who was addressing yesterday a mass rally in El-Fashir after launching
several projects in Tabit, underlined the projects are indicators of
peace, as he called on armed groups to listen to wisdom and join the
peace process.

He stressed there is no forum on the Darfur issue other than the Doha Forum.

The
FVP argued the national dialogue will resolve all problems of the
country, affirming the seriousness of the government to achieve a
comprehensive and just peace.

For
his part, the Qatari Deputy Prime Minister, Ahmed bin Abdalla
Al-Mahmoud announced his country’s endeavours to fund development
projects to nomads amounting to US$250 million.

He added that Qatar will support 11 localities in Darfur in erecting
water supply plants in cooperation with Qatar Charity, revealing an
agreement was signed with local partners.

Al-Mahmoud
also said that Qatar decided to purchase family made handicraft
products, noting the upgrade to the primary health centre of Tabit to a
teaching hospital.

He announced the establishment of 10 new model villages in Darfur amounting to US$70 million.

Al-Mahmoud
called on the Darfuri people to stick to the DDPD in order to preserve
their achievements, as he confirmed Qatar will launch Darfur Bank in the
near future.

For
his part, President of the Darfur Regional Authority (DRA), Dr.
Al-Tijani Al-Sisi said the DDPD brought peace and stability to Darfur.

He declared that the DRA will lay the foundation stone of 10 model villages, lauding the role of Qatar in achieving harmony.

Al-Sisi
disclosed that Qatar donated more than US$500 million to Darfur
projects which enabled the launching of 315 development projects, adding
the next stage will witness the establishment of more beneficial
projects.


The
Qatari Deputy Prime Minister, Ahmed bin Abdalla Al-Mahmoud, accompanied
by a high-level delegation, arrived Monday in Khartoum to participate
in the inauguration of projects and service establishments in North and
East Darfur States, which were implemented within the Qatari initiative
for development and rehabilitation in the Darfur region.

Al-Mahmoud
and the accompanying delegation were received at Khartoum Airport by
the Minister of Investment, Muddathir Abdul-Ghani, the Minister of
Health, Bahar Idris Abu-Garda, State Minister at the Council of
Ministers, Ahmed Fadul, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr.
Obeidallah Mohamed Obeidallah and a number of senior officials.


In
a press statement at Khartoum Airport, Al-Mahmoud described Sudanese -
Qatari relations as fraternal and strategic, indicating he is visiting
Sudan to participate in the opening and following up of services and
rehabilitation projects, and to meet with other officials in the state.


He
expressed his backing for the national dialogue which was declared by
the President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al Bashir, extending
his hope the National Dialogue Conference will come out with results
that are agreed upon by the people of Sudan.


He underlined his country's support for the national dialogue in Sudan.
Al-Mahmoud has called on all the armed movements and factions to join the peace process.

He
said that the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur is open to anyone who
wants peace, stating that the document was formulated by the people of
Darfur.

He asserted that Qatar is committed to boosting the peace and development process in Darfur and all over Sudan.
