Sudanese Regional Authority Inaugurates Tabit and Um Daie Villages - Rawan For Media Artistic and Production
Bakri Hassan Saleh and the Qatari Deputy Prime Minister Ahmed Bin
Abdalla Al Mahmoud, along with the President of Darfur Regional
Authority Dr, Tijani Al-Sisi and a number of senior officials.
The
model Tabit city in North Darfur, constructed by the philanthropic
Qatari organisation Raaf, is one of the most important projects as it
accommodates a large number of returnees from refugee camps along with
the services it provides to the people, such as water, health, education
and the police force.
The
cost of constructing the city was nearly 3 million Dollars while the
model city of Um Daie, constructed by the Qatari led Charity
organisation, is considered most useful because it serves more than
30,000 citizens, providing them with education, health and security.
The
cities place the responsibility of maintaining these facilities on
citizens and movements still carrying arms. They will serve the future
generation of Darfur and preserving these facilities will encourage
Qatar to provide more services, particularly in the field of water. Al
Mahmoud has announced his country is seeking to implement a water
network in Darfur as well as creating another ten villages at a cost of
more than 70 million Dollars, along with donating 50 million Dollars to
assist in nomad stability by providing them with basic services.
