Khartoum and Juba Sign MoU to Extend Humanitarian Assistance Access to S. Sudan - Rawan For Media Artistic and Production
General
Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed signed for
Sudan, while the Humanitarian Attaché of South Sudan Embassy to Khartoum
Kibi Grimeya signed on behalf of South Sudan.
According
to the joint communiqué the memo aims at delivering 50 thousand tons of
foodstuffs to the affected regions in south Sudan, out of which 30
thousand tons have arrived by the end of December.
The
MoU shall be in force for a period of six months as of January 2016 up
to the tenth of Next June. It outlined that in the context of
contributing in the stability of humanitarian conditions in south Sudan
the Sudanese government continued to provide facilities and the required
support to the affected citizens within South Sudan and those arriving
Sudan across the border states
The
MoU gave facilities for transporting humanitarian assistances via land
and river transport according to the agreed on routes between the two
governments and the World Food Programme (WFP) in the cooperation
agreement which is signed in 2014 and which is extended every six months
in conformity with the understanding between the two governments and
the United Nations with the aim of boosting the humanitarian conditions
in South Sudan
